Frequently Asked Questions

Will MPSN assign me an internship, or do I need to secure an internship myself?

It is the responsibility of applicants to secure a day internship, as they know their own field interests and career goals best.  Helpful internship search links and a list of organizations MPSN alumni have worked for are included in the internship section of the website.  MPSN alumni are also available to assist applicants with leads to appropriate internships. It is important to note that internships with foreign embassies, Muslim organizations, or ethnic organizations with predominantly Muslim populations are excluded from participation in MPSN.

Where can I find internship listings?

Refer to the ‘Quick Tips to Getting a Good Internship’ section

What are the accommodations like?

MPSN will provide the intern with room and board in the Washington metropolitan area from June 1 through July 31. Men and women have separate living quarters that are shared with the program Resident Manager and out of town guest lecturers. Classes and other group activities are held in a central location convenient to both groups. Students share responsibility for preparing meals, cleaning, etc.

Are there scholarships available?

Interns whose internships are unpaid and demonstrate financial need, may apply for waiver of MPSN program fee. All interns accepted to the program are provided accommodations and internship related intra-city transportation, or any other program related services. All incidental costs such as personal clothing, laundry, medicine, and entertainment must be covered by the intern.

Will I need proof of insurance?

Interns accepted to the program must present proof of insurance and emergency contact information. Interns will be responsible for their own medical insurance and any medical care that may be needed while they are in the program.

What about transportation to and from Washington, DC?

Interns are expected to pay their own transportation costs to and from Washington, D.C.  Travel assistance to and from Washington may be available to some interns that qualify.   All other transportation costs related to the internships or group activities will be provided by MPSN.
